Review on πŸ“ CyberTech Tri-Mode Non-Contact Tachometer Distance Gauge by Chris Peck

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Typical Chinese junk

The device arrived and was clearly an earlier return. The box has been opened. 2 of 4 batteries were missing. The parts bag had obviously been repackaged. Was not read in laser photo mode. No red dot is projected from the device. Looking into the lens, it was clear that the laser diode was bent away from the lens. Very bad build. I opened up the block and bent the diode into position. This has been noted in other reviews on this product. After reassembling, the phototouch worked. Strong red ray. I tested it on an induction motor with reflective tape and it was accurate. Tested on RC plane with black propeller and no reflector and he measured it accurately, agreed with the telemetry reading from the control panel. It was impressive. Using a contact wheel on the end of an induction motor has been a challenge. If you don't center it exactly on the shaft, it would constantly fly off the tachometer shaft. Eventually I was able to get a good accurate reading.

Pros
  • movement, speed and power
Cons
  • boring packaging
