LE is for particulate filter diesels

Often stocked at autoparts stores, this is not the Delo 400 that is so famous for cleaning out your engine, it is the "LE" deviation. Our machinist, RIP Ron Powers, taught us about Delo 400, but the LE deviation was too suble for most to notice. What are particulate filter diesels?; Those newest ones with all that exhaust work fit below the vehicle and require that blue fluid. Bluetech, etc. Mercedes calls this a 228.31 oil, a lower quality additive package than the 228.3 oils. Stay away from the "LE" deviation unless you have a particulate filtered diesel. If you want the finest non synthetics, look for MB 228.3 and 228.5 (outside of US) oils. For synthetics they list 229.3 (229.31 is for Particulate filters), and 229.5 (229.51 is for Particulate filters. Below in this review you can find the finest oils tested, search for them "exactly" as written, cut and paste, you'll learn the best oils don't reach north America because of CAFE standards and marketing games. I personally use Schaeffer Moly-Bond in my Mercedes and Volvo-Penta MD2. CenPeCo is another winner. Good luck folks, please search the 228.x and 229.x oils listed below and stay away from the .31 and .51 offerings UNLESS you have a particulate filter.Search "MB BeVo" online for that list of oils.
